What A Waste

Every year I promise myself that I won't waste any more time watching The Bachelor/Bachelorette. However, like so many others I was sucked in at, what I thought was, Rachel's straight forward take at this unconventional way to find "true love".

Up until the finale, I enjoyed watching Rachel and believed she would follow her heart and end up with a man she truly loved. Well, that was not the case. In the three hour finale, she had a gut-wrenching break up with Peter, had to speak to two of her exes, and her fiancee had to watch it all as well. Now, Peter was adored by fans and everyone thought she would end up with him due to their strong connection and realistic view of life. The two agreed on everything from where they would live, how many kids they wanted, what size house they wanted, etc. But there was only one flaw:

Now, Peter was adored by fans and everyone thought she would end up with him due to their strong connection and realistic view of life. The two agreed on everything from where they would live, how many kids they wanted, what size house they wanted, etc. But there was only one flaw:

Rachel wanted an engagement at the end of the show and Peter wanted to wait.

Peter expressed to her back in week seven that he wouldn't want to get engaged at the end because it seemed too rushed and he would want to continue for them to date in the real world and then get engaged. If you watch the clip of Rachel "breaking up" with Peter she cries so hard her eyelashes fall off. Literally.

Since Peter and Rachel broke up she only had one man to choose from-- Bryan. Bryan was super fake the entire season and I didn't get a sincere vibe from him. Even her family thought so. However, Rachel just wanted the ring. So she went with Bryan.

Now that you got the gist of the story let me tell you how I feel.

First off, if Rachel was so bent on having an engagement at the end she should have evicted Peter a while back. She was trying to force him into something that he didn't want to do. And honestly what he wanted to do was totally acceptable in the real world. Who really wants to get engaged after knowing someone for nine weeks? However, this is The Bachelorette and that is to be expected.

Next, how are we supposed to believe that Rachel truly loves and wants to be with Bryan. He was literally all she had left. Also, the breakup was more passionate than the proposal that Rachel just had to have so that was a big issue as well.

And finally, I lost respect for Rachel in a multitude of ways beginning with her not following her heart over a ring. Then, she lost even more when she rolled her eyes at Peter and said she is "living her best life" while he was trying to apologize for saying "any life without me will be a mediocre one". Rachel is just trying to convince herself that she is happy. So pathetic.

All in all, this season was a complete waste and I should have stopped watching back when Dean got sent home. Hopefully Alex or Dean will be the next Bachelor!
