2019 has already had some great movie releases from Avengers Endgame to Us. But we are only five months in and we still have a lot more to come. As someone who would rather watch the same seven movies over and over again than go see something new, I am super excited for these six movies and can't wait to buy popcorn and a coke slushy and see them on the big screen.
- Ma Release Date May 31st
I've been obsessed with Octavia Spencer ever since she fed Hilly Holbrook her crap in The Help...literally. Since then, Spencer has starred in numerous comedies and dramas, but this is her first movie in a suspense/thriller role. Aside from her acting skills, she already has a unique look that will aid her in this role and make it that much freakier. I have extremely high hopes for this movie and hope it's not a flop. Watch the trailer.
2. Rocketman Release Date May 30th
Elton John is one of my favorite performers and after seeing him this past March I am more in love than ever before. Taron Egerton is already a fun and adorable actor and, based on the trailer, really embodies Elton's attitude and style. I'm hoping that this movie is as successful and accurate as Bohemian Rhapsody. Watch the trailer.
3. Toy Story 4 Release Date June 21st
I was born and bred on Disney movies and have the privilege of going to Disney World once a year. When the trailer dropped for this movie I was shocked because I thought that this series was over and nervous that it wouldn't stack up to its predecessors. But then I said "Kennedy it's Disney, it has to be good". I will probably be the oldest person in the theater but that's okay cause I will have my Jessie doll and Buzz action figure with me (yes I still have them). My only hope is that none of the toys are destroyed and that I don't cry as much as I did during part three. Watch the trailer.
4. It Chapter Two Release Date September 6th
I can't believe it's already time for part two of this insane series. I was happily surprised two years ago by It because I actually jumped during the jump scares and I even had nightmares about Pennywise weeks after watching the movie. That was enough for me to classify It as a good scary movie and I'm so ready to be scared all over again in September. Watch the trailer.
5. Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker Release Date December 20th
Star Wars is my favorite franchise. I honestly can't put my excitement for this movie in to words but if someone that I love dies... let's just say Christmas will be ruined.
6. Little Women Release Date December 25th
I am nervous to see this movie because a) I fear it won't be as good as the 1994 original starring two of my favorite actresses Winona Ryder and Claire Danes and b) It might not do the book justice. The novel Little Women is such a special book to me and is chock full of life lessons that it would suck if it was undermined by a crappy redo. I have hope though because the gorgeous Timothée Chalamet is playing Laurie and that alone is a reason to go see it.
