It looks like we are going to be inside for at least another 30 days if not longer and while a lot of us are filling the time catching up on sleep and making tik toks, we can also binge-watch some of the best series and finally check movies off of our watch list. Below are the Top 10 Movies and TV Shows to watch during Quarantine. Be sure to comment below if you are watching any of these shows or if you think I left any off the list.
Outbreak (1995)
This movie follows the outbreak of a deadly virus and how a team of doctors fight to contain it and find a cure. It is super relevant considering what is happening in the world right now. It stars Dustin Hoffman, Morgan Freeman, and Kevin Spacey (pre-sex scandal).

Tiger King
I am 100% convinced that if we weren’t all stuck at home with nothing to do no one would watch the madness that is Tiger King. This eight-episode documentary follows Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin and all of the nastiness that occurred between the two of them and their exotic animals. The amount of raw footage in this series makes you feel like you are standing right next to the main characters and is very well put together. It left me wanting more and is definitely a good show to binge-watch.

Self Made
This is another miniseries with only four 45 minute episodes about the life of America’s first female self-made millionaire, Madam C.J. Walker. This show can serve as inspiration during this difficult time that has made many of us feel hopeless. Octavia Spencer is a personal favorite of mine and she does an excellent job portraying Walker.

Black Mirror
Black Mirror is a contemporary reworking of “The Twilight Zone” that tackles everything that could go wrong with the overuse of tech. This show makes you consider how we use technology and its effect on our psyche. There are currently five seasons and the episodes range from 45 minutes to an hour and a half. My personal favorite episodes are USS Callister, Nosedive, and White Bear.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi
I am a huge Star Wars fan and now is the time to binge the entire nine movie series. Use this time to lose yourself in the galaxy and forget about all of the COVID-19 drama.
Movies 1-8 are on Disney Plus, The 9th movie is On Demand
Contagion
In this modern version of Outbreak, Beth Emhoff (Gwyneth Paltrow) returns home from a business trip feeling a little sick. Two days later, Beth is dead, and doctors tell her husband (Matt Damon) that they have no idea what killed her. Soon, others start to experience the same symptoms, and a global pandemic explodes. Doctors try to contain the lethal virus while blogger (Jude Law) writes about the virus sparking paranoia around the world. This movie touches on the paranoia that accompanies a virus and sadly mimics the madness surrounding COVID-19.

Grease 2
I will never make a watch list without listing one of my all-time favorite movies. Grease 2 follows Michael Carrington, the cousin of Sandy from Grease and how he handles Rydell High, The Pink Ladies, and the T-Birds. I personally am not a fan of Grease and believe that Grease 2 has better music, cast, and overall storyline. I urge you to give this movie a chance!

Don’t Fuck With Cats
This mini-documentary series gave me literal nightmares after and left me freaked that actual people like this exist. This series is crazy from start to finish considering that a Facebook group lowkey solves the entire case. Disclaimer: If you are sensitive to animal abuse and gore this might not be the series for you.
Don’t Fuck With Cats is on Netflix
Ozark
After a money-laundering scheme goes wrong, Marty Byrde is forced to work with a Mexican drug lord to pay off a substantial debt to keep his family safe. Ozark stars Jason Bateman and Laura Linney. This show is super entertaining and a good binge that will help pass the time during quarantine.
Ozark is on Netflix
Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, and El Camino
If COVID-19 really lasts until August then you have plenty of time to complete this franchise trinity. Breaking Bad follows the journey of a high school chemistry teacher, Walter White, and his student, Jesse Pinkman, in producing and selling meth. Better Call Saul is the prequel of this series that follows White and Pinkman’s lawyer, Saul Goodman. Finally, El Camino takes place after Breaking Bad. The best order to watch these is 1) Breaking Bad 2) El Camino and then 3) Better Call Saul. This franchise is extremely entertaining and will have you at the edge of your seat.
